Guangzhou - interview

Today I just received notice that my wife will be interviewed in Guangzhou on May 4th. The bad news is, today I also received my walking papers from my job with no new prospects in the near future. The letter from the NVC says that I should let the NVC know if the appointment can't be kept, which I now intend to do. If anyone has any other suggestion, I'm listening.

Thanks for any help, Steve

Sorry to hear about your job loss. Been there, done that, victim of the .com bust.

Anyway, why can't your wife keep her interview appointment?

If I have no income & little assests, the NVC will still grant her a visa? If this is true, maybe not all is lost!

Well you have a few options. You could use assets, you could get a joint sponsor, you can hope like hell you have a job before then.

The NVC does not grant visas, the consulate in Guangzhou does.

Again, sorry that you've lost your job. But why does that mean your wife cannot attend her interview?

As a practical matter, can you support yourself and your wife in the USA right now while you look for a new job? If not, you might want your wife to postpone her interview until you find a new job. Or until you find a joint sponsor who's willing to actually put out some money for your wife's support. But that's a different matter than saying that your wife cannot attend her interview.
