POE - Temporary I-551
Hello Guys, I've been out of the US for almost three month and I'm going back in a couple of weeks, I don't have my green card as I left it back home so my wife would send it back to USCIS to correct some mistake in it, now I'm worried I'm going to have troubles entering the us without the GC, although on the immigrant visa stamp in the passport it says" upon endorsement, serves as temp. I-551 evidencing permanent residence for one year" , the Visa stamp has an expiry date of Sep.2009, the admission date was sep.2009 ,
Can you advise me please?? |

It's expired! You should have never left without your green card.

I don't understand "the Visa stamp has an expiry date of Sep.2009". If your admission date was "sep.2009" then the I-551 notation should have an expiration date of September 2010. If the I-551 notation has in fact expired, you may very well have trouble entering the USA but you will be allowed to enter. Your biggest problem may be with airline staff letting you on the plane, because if all of your documentation is expired the airline staff may not realize that you will be allowed to enter and may not want to risk having to fly you back to wherever you are. ______________________________________________________ Raven Chief Inspector, Profile Police nevermore |
