221g - Put me on AP & asked abt my passport!

Hello guys!

I m the new one in this forum and just joined today.

I have given my interview at USEM islamabad which was 10 NOv,08.
I just did a big mistake.I did not send them our orignal translated marraige paper which has Foreign Affairs attested tickets.

Thats y he gave me the blue slip regarding the missing orignal document and he also me on AP.
My wife is sick and thats y we send expidition request and they approved it and they gave me the early interview date.

When he put me on AP i tried to tell him that we have an emergency and i have to get visa then Co replied sorry sir there is nothing in my hand.
But i can do only one thing which is that whenever you will send us the missing orignal document you can send us your passport along the document.
He pasted a purple token on approved courier list paper and as well as on my passport.

My question is,

what does it mean He put me on AP and he also told me to send the passport with the missing document?

Is this a good sign?

Plz i want detail answer.

Thanx..

hi there. Start by reading the *multiple* threads about AP in ISL and accept the things that have already been written. We have a generous member here in Mary who keeps saying the same thing over and over; I hope you will hear her words and understand that it is going to be several months before you have a visa.

CO gave me blue slip in which he mentioned me the original Translated marriage certificate and he also gave me the green slip and he said besides it your case also need some administrative processing. He said you have to send us the original translated marriage paper. And i can send him my passport with the missing document.
He told me that i can send him my passport along with missing document when i told CO that my wife is very sick and we are on expidition request.

What does it mean he put me on AP and he also asked me abt my passport with the missing document?
Green slip was for AP and blue slip was for missing document.

Waiting for early responses.

Almost all males no matter whether they are requesting expedited processing for illness have to endure security checks and AP. I have been with VJ and here for many years and you cannot come to the US without the security checks completed and cleared.

You got a 221(g) for the missing or incomplete documentation and once you send that in they will continue working on your visa. Them requesting a passport is good news and hopefully they will be able to give you your visa in not too long of a period. You must not think you will have the visa in hand in days since NO ONE can tell you how long it will take for your document verification, security checks and fingerprints to clear the many various agencies.

Dear Sibtain,

CO asked you to send the passport only becuase it will save your time and you do not need to visit the US embassy again. Once your AP is clear they will send the visa through courier. But do not misunderstand that it will fasten the pace of AP. However our warm wishes are with you.

Best of luck,
Trekker

Thanx!

Thanx for ur replies and thanx for senior member reply.

Yes ofcourse in these days i m just focusing on the missing document, which i m gonna submit with my pasport in 2 weeks.

How many days they can keep your passports while they put on AP?
I have heard that the new AP which r on for these days r getting less time as compared to previous.

I wanna know that should i contact to congressman or senator for this coz my wife is really not well she is very sick.

CO also told me that if u think your visa is taking more time then you can contact to congressman or senetor.

Should i contact them? And if yes then when?
Will it work?

Waiting for replies?

I have heard that the new AP which r on for these days r getting less time as compared to previous. They can keep your passport for any length of time I have seen up to two years in the past. AP does not have any time frame is what I am trying to express to you. Your wife is sick and yes you need to get your visa fast but they cannot allow you to come to the USA until ALL security checks have been cleared. You may be one of the very few that has a short AP and all you can do now is to pray that you fall into that category.

I wanna know that should i contact to congressman or senator for this coz my wife is really not well she is very sick.Congressman or senator cannot step in until after many months have passed. In some cases they will not even inquire on your behalf. The first thing they do is to email or call Islamabad and if you look at the many replies on these threads, VJ and from my personal experience now with our Lifting of Conditions they get a canned response the same as the one you get and will send it to you. In most cases they inquire on your behalf once and then again after 90 - 120 days have passed since the first reply and not before.

CO also told me that if u think your visa is taking more time then you can contact to congressman or senetor.Yes, they can tell you that as well as your AP if you look at the 221(g) and it states 30 days unless they have changed it in the past few months. How many here have heard this and NO ONE not even C. Rice, President Bush, Presidenct Elect Obama can get your security checks cleared any faster. PATIENCE is the key.

Should i contact them? And if yes then when?
Will it work?

Waiting for replies?
Right now just get the documentation back to them and as I say to everyone do not discuss this part with your spouse too much. Talking about the whats and whys of this process will drive you crazy and can cause much heartache. I say take it one day at a time, pray for patience and the Allah/God blesses you together soon. My motto during our processing in AP was that Allah/God would bless us in HIS time and not OURS.

But you really dont know that how much my wife is serious may be she is dieing,i m feeling very helpless n it seems some times that i wont be able to see her.Its killing me,kiling me every seconds.I m in lot of pain n i cannot even ask her to come to pakistan, coz she is not in that condition.

I m praying n praying alot and the important part is that i even did not tell her that i was put on AP coz then all of her hopes will die.

I know i need at this time a miracle just a miracle. But i cannot handle this anymore i dont care abt USA or any visa.I just care abt my wife who is dieing with out me who needs me so badly.

Sibitain,

I really do understand and have seen spouses separated over Cancer, high risk pregnancy and other illlness as well. Security checks are security checks period and you just have to wait it out. Being male, from a muslim country and also a T country you just have to wait it out. In a few cases the AP is shorter but no one is going to say your clear until all the checks come back final and shown as clear.

Your concern is that she may be dying? If your wife is as sick as you say the she should seek professional help in a specialist or doctor instead of waiting on you? I think that would be the best step she could do for herself and you too.

Wishing you all the best for her health and your visa.

In name check process which types of the names can be complicated for FBI and can take more time to be checked.

Common names or uncommon names?

Like my documentational name is "MUHAMMAD ALI".

Whats kind of the name it is?
Is this common or uncommon?

Plz tell me abt the common and uncommon names merits or demerits?

Thanx..

Like my documentational name is "MUHAMMAD ALI". Dear your name is way too common if this is your correct name. Ali, Iqbal, Khan, Mohammad, Muhammad, any spellings seem to be one's that have a longer name check.

Whats kind of the name it is?
Is this common or uncommon?

Plz tell me abt the common and uncommon names merits or demerits? Uncommon names clear easily, common names like yours do take time. If you read any of the links I have posted you find that they run your name in so many ways and that does take time. Example my name is spelled Mary...... They will run it as Mary, Marry, Marri, Mari, Iram, Meri Merri, Mery, etc. on and on. They run all parts of your name like this as well as phonetically and in foreign writings as well.

Thanx..

Sibtain

Remember to try and take this part of your journey one day at a time and praying for everyone that has AP for their reunions soon.

I was reading that AP has different types may b not too many but AP has.

So my question is that to keep in view islamabad US embassy which types of AP are taking much time and which one AP is taking less time?

One more question is that CO put on AP coz of missing document and he also told me that i can send them my passport with missing document and it can take minimum 6 weeks, So do you guys hav seen that AP could be over before six weeks?

And if yes what would be the average of that kind of the cases which has received thier visas before 6 weeks>

AP does not have any manual or written books for the general public. Too little is discussed and what is out their is usually from individuals like myself that have endured AP and share their experiences.

Wish I had an answer but AP is a dark abyss and waiting game with no time frames.

Dear Sibtain,

The comments from mary were correct upto the information provided to her. It is true the AP dates starts when your documents are complete at USE, otherwise it starts from the date of interview. This is as I know it.

The CO told you he was putting you in AP. Yes, your AP started at the time of the interview because they did not issue a visa and for classification purposes they have to say your in AP.

1. If they issue the visa your classification would be visa issued, visa number, validity dates are shown in the system.

2. If they have to issue AP then that is the classification in the system along with the notation of why in AP. Your case is AP for missing or incomplete documents and/or maybe security checks as well.

3. If they issue AR then it would state that your case is for review of documentation on your classification.

4. If they issue the 212 it would be classified as NOIR or NOID possibly.

But each time someone interviews the CO or embassy/consulate has to give a classification on your status.

Also, if you read any of the older posts you can have more than one AP. It is rare but does happen.

CLASSIFICATION is the main reason your case states AP now.

I have submitted today the missing orignal document,my passport and as well as Application ,letter of my wife & doctor's letters to AEMX.

I have sent my passport as CO told me that i could send them my passport with missing document.

AMEX again charged Rs.1000 for passport.
I wrote the application to American Consular Officer regarding the emergency and letter of my wife and doctors report in which they can again clearly see that how much pain we are in.

I hope they will listen to me and will reply me as soon as.

Each CO operates differently and some keep the passport. One reason that they kept your passport is that it will be on hand and they can courier it to you once they are ready to issue the visa. This saves time since you are saying that your case is needing to be processed fastly for health issues. It does not mean that you will get the visa quickly but it does save time of you having to go back to Islamabad with your passport and drop it off and then they will courier it back at that time.

And i was reading your post in which u mentioned that in some cases they check your paper work on local basis.

Which types of cases there r in which they check it localy?
Like i did not present my orignal Marraige paper only that y he gave me blue slip and green slip of AP.

So it can be possible that my paper work will be check localy or this is the standared checking which applies on every one to security checks in states?

Plz explain it?

Sibtain

Marriage Papers or Nikkah Namah can be checked at the musjaid it was registerd to verify the seals/stamps. Education documents, divorce papers, etc can have an investigator go to the sites listed and investigate.

Name checks, fingerprints, etc are done with the many agencies in the USA via a cable to the agencies. Once they are completed the agencies then wires back to Islamabad their findings. This is the uncertain part of how long it takes to get cleared.

What does it mean?

I mean whats the difference b/w Administrative processing & Additional processing? And if they r same then why he gave him whire sheet while AP sheet has green colour?

Which one thing take longer according to ur experience?
