For the avoidance of confusion, please edit your profile information to show that you are applying for an immigrant visa (IV), not adjustment of status (AOS / I-130).

As to your question, I don't know how the consulate in Montreal notifies visa applicants of their interview date but I think that most consulates use regular mail (in DCF cases).
